After successfully installing EFW-COMMUNITY-2.5.1  I can’t figure out which Ethernet ports is green and which is red.  I plugged into both to see and couldn’t get an IP address from either.
What am I missing?
Is there a guide some ware for this?
if there is I can’t seem to be able to locate it.

Hi,

I think you struggling with similar problem as I am.  Although I know which one is which (you can tell by login to console and checking mac or simply by disconnecting cable from if) what annoys me is:

1. Why during install (2.5.1) I am not able to chose which interface is Green or Red?
2. How after install can I assign Green to another interface?

Sorry for hijacking your topic but IMHO problem you having is for the reasons above.

Anyone?

Thanks
K

Yes this is defiantly related to what I am having an issue with.  Although I get no indication of weather anything is plugged in to either red or green so even after the install I don't know which is which.

Is there a good getting started / trouble shooting guide (for after install)?

There is no DHCP-Server running right after Installation / Reboot. So you should give your PC from which you are trying to access efw a fixed IP-address. Then try which one is active by changing cable on the NICs. If you use a direct link you'll need a crossover cable.

There's no possibility to choose which NIC ist green/red during installation. Even during first configuration you cannot choose. But afterwards you can change the order in /etc/businfotab.

hope this helps

Use any subnet you wish for example 192.168.x.x/24 (where x can be from 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, etc) and set IP. By default EFW v2.5.1 assigns IP x.15:10443 to green network if you are resetting to factory default. This worked in my case...
