I have been trying to enable the content filter on v2.3, but it doesn't filter anything.  the access policy is set to use the filter, but it does nothing.  The access rule does seem to work with a/v filtering.  Anyone experiencing anything similar?

Thanks

create a new profile (it will shows content2, content3,... depends on your contents) and select whatever you want to filter (change from green color to red color). I did test filter 'porn' under the "A dult", both of 'Content Filtering' and 'URL Blacklist'. after tested it's OK but cannot work on Default Profile (content1).

Default URL blacklist list is rubbish. You should try to update it first.  The problem is that on Community is not a GUI feature. You must do it manually.
See the difference:

Original /etc/dansguardian/blacklists directory contents:
ads  aggressive  audio-video  categories   gambling  hacking  mail  porn  proxy  violence  warez

Updated /etc/dansguardian/blacklists directory contents:
abortion                              gardening         magazines       on.linepayment    sect              violence
ads             books          desktopsillies   government        mail            personalfinance  se.xuality         virusinfected
ad.ult           categories     dialers          guns              malware         pets             shopping          warez
aggressive      celebrity                  hacking           manga           phishing         socialnetworking  weapons
alcohol         cellphones     ecommerce        homerepair        marketingware   porn             sportnews         weather
antispyware     chat           entertainment    humor             medical         press            sports            webmail
artnudes        child          filehosting      hunting           mixed_a.dult     proxy            spyware           whitelist
astrology       childcare      filesharing      hygiene           mobile-phone    radio            tobacco
audio-video     cleaning       financial        instantmessaging  naturism        reaffected       updated
banking         clothing       frencheducation  jewelry           news            religion         updatesites
beerliquorinfo  contraception  gambling         jobsearch         onlineauctions  ringtones        vacation
beerliquorsale  culinary       games            kidstimewasting   onlinegames     searchengines    verisign

I updated it and now it block almost anything it's suppose to be blocked, with Antivirus on.

Check if content filter blocks correctly. Try one URL that appears on  /etc/dansguardian/blacklists/ and check that you have that category blocked.
I.e. block the 'drug' category and try to surf to rhodium.ws. It should block you, as it appears on '/etc/dansguardian/blacklists/drug s/domains'

mrkroket,
Please let me know, how to update URL blaklist, cause I look in the /etc/dansguardian/blacklist directory and I saw sub-directory as you post, and inside these directory contents few files. I think not only add directory as you post because it contains with another files inside, and I've no idea how to configure those file on each blacklist directory.

Get an updated blacklist, for dansguardian (google for it). For example:
http://urlblacklist.com/?sec=download
Select the whole new list: http://urlblacklist.com/cgi-bin/commercialdownload.pl?type=download&file=bigblacklist
Untar the contents on /etc/dansguardian/blacklists, overwriting the old versions.
edit the /etc/dansguardian/blacklists/categories, and add the new directories as subcategories. Here's mine:
A.d.v.e.r.t.i.s.e.m.e.n.t.s.=.a.d.s.

# Note!!!!!! Remove all dots (.) before you paste the text on categories file!!!!! I put all those dots simply to bypa.ss the ugly profanity filter of this forum

And just restart the proxy. After that content filter should work a bit better.
