Can't access web interface!

Ok so I just installed EFW2.3 onto a 4 GB CF card, which is the exact same setup as my EFW2.2 firewall that I love so much. After the install was finished, the firewall boots up just fine, but I can not access the web interface via the green interface from a laptop. As a matter of fact I can't ping the firewall from the laptop and I can't ping the laptop from the firewall. I see the firewall has the correct network settings listed when I do an ifconfig, but have no idea why its not able to ping or be pinged by the laptop. Even if I just open a web browser and point to the management URL I get nothing. Any help would be appreciated

It is possible that endian has not properly initialised your network card.
Things to try:
on endian console:
ping -b 192.168.1.254 ( where 192.168.1.254 is your local network broadcast address)
^c to cancel
If nothing responds let the ping run and check the ethernet ports and switch for a light flashing every second.
If there are no lights, probably your network IF is not working.
Try also
ethtool eth0
Check the network details are as expected.
BTW: what ethernet chip is your network card using?

Could it be your laptop configuration? Maybe no dhcp address? Another thought... when I installed Endian on a machine previously running IPCop, the ports on my quad-port nic were rearranged. Red & green were the same ports, but Blue & Orange were swapped. Is it possible your upgrade did something similar?
