Title: Kernel-Headers???
Post by: nic on Thursday 12 August 2010, 10:31:58 pm
Hello,

i want  to compile driver for a intel network card but where do i get the Kernel-Headers?

I downloaded the devel-srpms but there are only the PAE and SMP kernel headers,
not the kernel headers for the standard installation...

Can anybody help me?

I got same problem to install my Atheros AR8131 onboard NIC and i install this kernel-headers: 2.6.27.19-72.e25PAE

But i couldnt create the rpm, have to use the "make" and "make install" command, but i'm a novice on it and it's my first experience with linux.

You download de EFW-COmmunity 2.4 SRMPS from sourceforge?

Yes, i downloaded them from sourceforge...

I also compiled my drivers with the PAE-Headers, but i get the error "invalid module format"-error
when i try to load the modules via insmod...

To use kernel PAE headers you must first change EFW to use that kernel.

efw-upgrade
smart install kernel-PAE

And other big important thing is reboot after install, i know it's a noob thing but for me that is my first experiencie with endian and linux i spend 6 hours for it and then i remember to see on dashboard what kernel i am using and realase that i need to reboot to upgrade the kernel!
