Version 2.3 will be out soon and as a bonus, the Endian Firewall Community release will include most of the features that previously were available in the enterprise edition only. Among the newly included features are: VLAN support, group based web policies, time based access control, support for UMTS/GPRS/3G modems, policy-based routing, a live log viewer and an improved backup system.

More information about version 2.3 here: http://www.endian.com/en/products/features/release/

This is certainly terrific news!!

Kudos for adding the Enterprise features to the Community Edition.
Hopefully we get to see the CE very soon!

Yes, hopefully this comes out soon.  I am a huge Endian fan, but there are a few things I am really needing.  Hopefully the enhanced QOS will allow QOS based on destination port ranges, as there are certain apps that occupy a huge port range that require QOS... it's just not possible to implement without port range capability.

Thanks for all the hard work!

One more thing... I am hopeful that future versions of Endian will allow for more zones.  I am in an environment where up to 6 zones would be required.  It may be possible to daisy-chain the zones using multiple Endian boxes, but I think it would be easier to simply allow for user-configurable zones.  Of course, when I say easier, I have no idea how hard that would be for developers... simply easier for me... I'm incredibly selfish!

Other commercial hardware allows for this, such as Adtran and Cisco boxes.  But why use those when Endian is WAY BETTER?!

An example of my scenario would be:

Red - Wan1
Red - Wan2
Green - Servers
Yellow - Workstations
Orange - DMZ
Blue - Wifi
Purple - Vendor Connection

Of course, some of this might be configurable other ways... but even the commercial Endian appliances have lots of ports... seems like a waste if we can't configure them as separate VLANs.

Love the stuff!  Keep up the great work.

This is a really good news for me!

2.2 is not perfect, but it stops me from retiring early. ;-)

thanks for all the unselfish people behind endian firewall.

Is there a way to upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3, without reinstalling and reconfiguring everything Huh

Does 2.3 release support x64 or only x86?
If not, are there any x64 releases of Endian Firewall available?

Fantastic news.  This release seemed to come out faster than the last one.  Seemed to zip through the Release Candidates.
