Hi at all,

First of all, please be friendly with my spelling, i come from Germany, so dont be so hard Wink
My Problem is following:

Ive got the 2.2 release of Endian Firewall Community Version because ive heard that this one is the one with less bugs. The whole installation progress itself was fine. After the installation ive got he final screen, and my computer should restart (but it didnt, im a linux newbie, so if i was wrong pl. tell me). I make a manual restart and tried to connect my Firewall PC with my Configuration PC. I hope i interpretated the installation guide correctly, because I just get my one LAN-cable and stick directly from the config-pc to the new firewall-pc. there is no connection with my router!

After all, when i try to get into the web based GUI, i get the message "connection failed" from Firefox. I tried to ping the firewall too, but all ive got is just "timeout" or a message that means, that the other pc is not there (sry, but the translation machine fails this time and i dont think that the word could help you; i hope you understand what i mean!).
After a quick research, i discovered an article where stands, that i have to put an static ip adress to my config-pc. Sooo, wtf ?!xD

If you wonder, I deinstall 2.2 and install 2.4.1 (i though the problem is the version). Btw, i install the Endian Firewall for an example run on an old Laptop with only one LAN slot. This isnt the problem, or?!

My Green IP : 192.168.0.15/None
Management URL : http****192.168.0.15:10443

Major Question

1. Could you pl. tell what i have to put in as an static ip adress?! i know where, but not what to put in^^

Minor Question

2. Question: Do you think that i should reinstall 2.2 instead of 2.4.1 ?!
3. Question: How much dataflow i could get with an Intel IV 3,2 GhZ HT-Tech. with IDS ?!
4. I can choose what AV-Programm i want, or?!

Thank you so much for your help!

Please note that not all PC's can be connected directly  with a normal ethernet cable.
Without switch you'll probably need a crossover cable.

Said that, before trying something more complex (like web GUI), the first thing to test on a new install is pinging the machines on the subnet.
You can't do anything else until you have ping from your firewall to your machine and vice-versa.

Version 2.4+ have much more features than 2.2
I have used v2.3. It has bugs that are fixables.
You can't choose AV on community edition. In fact, AV on firewall are not very usefuls, with big files take a lot of CPU power.
Besides that, I don't trust ClamAV as my main Virus Defense.
I only use AV for small files (<1MB).
