Endian 2.4.1 restore
«

The Dell computer that was running my Endian 2.4.1 died yesterday. I replaced the computer hardware with an Lenevo system and installed 2.4.1. I tried restoring the backup, but it caused EFW to become inaccessible. I found a bug report listed for the problem of doing a restore to different hardware and there doesn't appear to be a fix yet.
bugs.endian.com/view.php?id=3311
I have several port forwards and a large number of openvpn users. Since most of these weren't documented, it will be very time consuming to recreate.
Is there a way to manually move some selective configurations from the backup archive to the current system?
Import of the port forwards and openvpn configs/certificates are the main items I need.
Thanks

After re-reading the bug report, I was able to find a work around.
This is what I did to get a backup from the old computer to work on a new computer:
1. On another computer, open the backup archive (.gz) file from the old system in a zip utility(like 7-zip) that supports gzip files.
2. Remove the businfotab file from the backup archive file. businfotab can be found in the etc folder.
3. Install Endian 2.4.1 on the new computer and go through the setup wizard
4. Import the modified archive file into the new system and restore the backup
5. EFW should then have all of the settings from the old system, but still retain the nic configuration you setup during the setup wizard.

Thanks for the tip. I just had to do the same thing and it worked like a charm. Now the thing I did was do the restore during the setup wizard, couldn't tell from your post if you did that first or after you went through the wizard.
