Title: Has anyone tried the 2.2 beta 4?
Post by: sonicsteve on Thursday 01 May 2008, 08:00:21 am
I can't get the webcontent filter to work because I can't set the filter rule up.  It will setup in position # 2 but if you try to move it to #1 it regresses to unfiltered access. It seems that the content filter is broken in 2.2 beta 4.

Does anyone know how to overcome this? Or should I hope for the best from beta 5?

There are alot of things broken in beta 4.  sadly it's not a very functional beta.  I've had nothing but horrible problems from it.  on the other hand... the new interface is very nice... it just needs to work in more than firefox.

Hi,

I was also expecting to have better experience with this new beta, but just enable the content filter categories gives me a headache. I also have the same problem with the policy/rule creation.

Any fix?

Edward TH

2.2 RC1 is out. It seems to have fixed some major bugs! Content filter and Anti-virus are working at the same time for the first time ever.  It used to be that enabling anti-virus and content filter at the same time would disable at least the content filter and possibly even the anti-virus also.

My suggestion is to give RC1 a try. It has been working quite well as a proxy server. I did have trouble getting port 995 to come in and out when I set it up as a firewall. As a proxy server it allows it to pass quite well. Next time I try it as a firewall I'm going to erase all the outgoing rules and open all outgoing ports. Perhaps this weekend even.
