Endian 2.4: Red + Green on same subnet?

I'm trying to do a transition from Endian 2.2 to 2.4 where Red and Green are on the same sub-net.
This works fine in Endian 2.2, but fails in Endian 2.4:
I need this because I only have one network.
This works in Endian 2.2:
1. ADSL router with external IP maps port 1194 to IP 192.168.x.5 on internal LAN
2. Endian has 192.168.x.5/24 and default gateway 192.168.x.1 on RED
3. Endian has 192.168.x.6/24 on GREEN
4. Endian has OpenVPN server giving out IP-addresses 192.168.x.200-229
This fails in Endian 2.4:
Step 4/8: Internet access preferences
The RED and GREEN networks are not distinct.
The DEFAULT GATEWAY is within the GREEN network.
How do I work around this?
