i need a utm, so would you guys please help me even if this won't be endian?
i have wireless and wired. gaming is a must as i play xbox 360 and wii and ps3 all the time. wireless n is a must as that is what my macbook pro is.
i want av protection, content filtering to block categories like  etc, know how much we download and upload on a week/month type of basis and ips etc. i don't want any security for my gaming systems except to know how much download and upload they do on the wan.

wii is wireless g. macbook pro is wireless n and wired when i need fast transfers. xbox 360 will be wired most of the time and wireless g only sometimes. ps3 will be wired mostly and sometimes wireless g.

apple ipod touch will be wireless g as well.

currently all we have is a switch and linksys wrt160nl but that offers no security and no bandwidth up and down amount for wan.
I need something asap as we haven't had what we need for such a long time, Sad

Thanks for your time.

i don't know what to do.

Well Endian would work. You would still need your linksys router for wireless and you would need any old system than can have three NICs. You would need one network card for the WAN, One for the LAN, and one for the DMZ which would be for the linksys which would have the xbox 360.

I will warn you that it will take a while and is better to pay someone really tech savvy a little $$$ to do this if you are unfamiliar with networking.

I've got a pc now with 5 nics and can use it. How can i find out if endian tells me how much i upload and download on wan for day/week/month/total though?
I'm tech savy i think enough for the basics then i might be ok with getting to know stuff as i go, but not sure. and i do need to know how much the game consoles upload and download too.

thank you!

Enable Traffic Monitoring via  Services => Traffic Monitoring and you can view through ntop:

As Steve said use the traffic monitor from the menu that he directed. This will pop up another screen that will display a report. The report has some pie graphs (I think these will be improved in the next version coming out soon) and some statistics. One statistic is the interface traffic, another is the traffic over different ports (ie: port 80 = HTTP, ftp, mail, etc). Also you can check out your specific equipment bandwidth from the IP menu at the top of ntop.

Sorry if this is somewhere, but does endian have upnp? if not is it possible to use the upnp in my linksys? I'm not sure if I should have endian as gateway or bridge to give security and linksys as gateway. because if possible I really would like upnp available. I'd like upnp and the security of endian and the bandwidth info for my gaming and lan so I know how much I'm using. plus if possible QoS to give my gaming priority when playing. These are just things I'd like is all.

Thanks so much guys.

UPnP is NOT a good thing for a firewall: you may not be stringent in fine tuning traffic ports for your applications, however, network games, often, open a lot of ports to be controlled selectively. Also UPnP is a good resource for trojans.

I'd still like to use upnp since in all the years i've used it I never have any issues.
Mostly wanna use it so I don't have to mess with port forwarding for if I wanna run utorrent and then maybe my xbox 360, ps3 and wii would like upnp and work better. I'm not sure. I just don't like manually port forward unless it's extremely easy.
