In 2.4.0 I compiled an intel driver for enterprise grade Quad Intel Gigabit NIC's.
I packaged them as an RPM (easy to install).
They are detected as Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82576 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 01)
It works nicely, not even a hiccup on like 8 months. And I use the 4 ports with VLAN's, bonding, etc etc
The problem? It was compiled for kernel PAE on Endian 2.4.0. I don't think it will work on 2.4.1

So your best move will be install the developer tools on 2.4.1, download the igb sources from intel, compile and install it.

How were you able to compile this? I've been trying to install the devel RPMs from the sourceforge page but there's a bunch of missing dependencies, including kernel-devel which I assume is the kernel headers. If you know where I can them it would be greatly appreciated if you shared.
