Hello,
I cannot find the feature custom URL blacklist/whitelist. Is it not included in the new version 2.3?
Thanks!

I can't find that option either
Maybe It's just an RC bug? Hopefully, because custom blacklists - whitelists are essential

I'm not sure if it's just an RC bug. There are other features also found in the old versions that endian removed like sarg. Sarg is good be cause it shows you the top user / top downloads / top sites. And it's not anymore found in the latest version.

The URL blacklist/white list is still implemented in Endian 2.3 RC. Endian re-vamped the proxy functionality, so now most "settings" are created and managed using "rules" Log in to your endian box and go to proxy-->Content filter, and click on "Create a Profile", type in a "profile name", then select the categories you want to block, then click "create profile". Now click on proxy-->Access Policy-->click "add access policy" in the "filter profile" drop down list choose the content filter policy you created, and volla, your url filtering settings will be applied the way you want them.
I think Endian made a very good decision creating a "rule based" system, now it is possible to do practically anything you need!

I understand the rules concept, but I am unable to find a way of preventing access to a specific URL. Is this possible?
Thanks

You can now do pretty much anything, even block by user, ip, time, etc!!!:
To block an URL:
1- Go to:
Proxy->Access Policy
.
2- Add a
new access policy
3- Select
Destination Type
to
Domain
4- Set
Access Policy
to
Deny Access
5- Set
Position
to
First Position
6- Write on the box the domains you want to block. I.e. "
.rapidshare.com
". It's important the dot at the start!!!!
7-
Save
and restart proxy. Voila!
Advanced rules you can do now:
a) Block domain to specified users, just changing the
Source
to the affected users
b) Block or allow domains by time, just enabling
Time restriction

Thanks mrkroket, I had tried that, but missed the crucial dot at the start of the domain I wished to block. It works now!

Hi,
what about the regex feature of squid ?
I need to blacklist domains based on words as:
.youtube.*
.*.tv
.*porn*.*
etc. etc.
With squid it can be done. Is it possible in endian ?
