Stop .exe, .rar, .zip, etc downloads, but not .pdf

Hi,

I haven't started using Endian yet; there is something I wish to clear before I start.

At a 's place in his university room, I had seen that the connection was limited in such a way that we could open any page we liked, but we could not freely download anything: we could not download .avi or .wmv or ., etc, but the net worked smoothly. Now can I use Endian to restrict the downloads of .exe, .wmv, .rar, .zip, etc. files, but allow the downloads of educational books like .pdf or .doc or .txt (or any other)?

The second thing is, is this a Linux firewall, or can it be used in Windows as well? I'm already using Comodo with XP.

Would really appreciate some help.

i don't know if i answer your question..
but i think endian is no as same as komodo
endian need to be deployed on a server, maybe a dedicated one..
while komodo is a software than u install into a windows machine

endian is not a software than can be installed on a windows.. maybe u can assume that endian is an OS

endian firewall is a complete operative system;
Is not an application to use in windows
it should work in a dedicated server

You can block MIME-types with Endian quite effectively

hey u can edit the file /etc/dansguardian/lists/exceptionextensionlist and add ur extension there
