Is it possible to install additional packages or software on top of this distribution ??
Would I for instance be able to install Asterisk IP-PBX from source ?

I would like to use Endian as a router/firewall/DHCP but also on the same machine use a small Asterisk PBX...

I would also like to know this. As I feel it's a good fit for small biz locations.

I would rather setup a Ubuntu/Debian box  with VMWare server or Sun VBox and create separate virtual servers. Running other software on you Firewall would not be recommended.

Couldn't agree more. Asterisk is very CPU-sensitive. If your firewall goes at a 100% CPU spike, voice will scramble at that moment. I always recommend a dedicated server for Asterisk if you want to sleep worry-less Smiley
