Getting ftp working through proxy on efw 2.4.1

We've efw 2.4.1 up and running ok and the web proxy is working fine (we use 3128 for the proxy port)

If I try and use ftp with IE with format ftp://user:password@host then it connects ok. However, I am unable to get a ftp client to work with endian and I've tried filezilla and smartftp.

I've allowed 50000-50999 in TCP to the system access firewall

When I try and connect with either filezilla or smartftp (with the generic proxy configured) then I get access denied.

In the squid logs I can see TCP_DENIED/403 to the IP address on port 21, but port 21 is on the list of allowed ports.

Has anyone any tips on how to get this working?

Make sure you have not limited the type of web browers in the filters Access Policy.

I've checked and there are no limits on browsers... All useragents are allowed.

Does filezilla need adding as it's own useragent? Currently the useragent blocking is the only thing I can think of.

I'm guessing I can add an entry in useragents in /var/efw/proxy that looks something like...

filezilla,Filezilla,"Filezilla"

sorry, but probably I am missing something...

if you are using the proxy, you don't need the rule on the fw, otherwise you bypass it ... moreover, can you try with another browser? as far as I remember, IE does not allow to select the port you are using for, eg FTP ... can you try with mozilla firefox or something similar? if you set there the efw ip as proxy and 21 for the port of FTP proxy, does it work?

I've tried all of that, but it still doesn't allow it through... I can see TCP-DENIED in the squid logs.

Just tested and yes it does work with firefox.

did you set the port 21 on firefox?

In firefox I just put ftp://address in the address bar.
