Title: Green interface drops connectivity
Post by: xsidx on Thursday 28 October 2010, 08:39:44 pm
Hi all, am running endian 2.4.0 edition. My problem is that my green interface drops connectivity randomly, it can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours running or it can just last 20 minutes some times. I am running the Endian as a virtual server, and it is stable and can run smooth with no problem, but like I said it knocks out the green interface at random times, in which case I have to remote into it externally and reboot it for it to come back up. Unfortunately I have been forced to allow personal laptop access to a department at my business(by boss...cant fight it), I do believe this has to do with a laptop accessing the network with a virus which might be trying to get out and just wont stop attacking my internal firewall (green interface) as outgoing firewall is active. I have disabled it, but it only lengthens the outcome on it, not to mention allows every software I don't want people to try to run of their personal laptops from within my network... like limewire, AOL, AIM, MSN Messenger...etc..

I can't find what is causing this to happen, I have checked the system log, firewall log, and nothing so far, w.e it is it will knock the green offline before the log is created or maybe I just haven't been able to find the log of it. So my question is this, is there a script to make Endian reset or deactivate and reactivate the green interface without rebooting? or maybe a keep-life script that will tell endian to reboot if it cant access a certain internal IP?

I am not too familiar with linux commands.

Any info will help, I've ran out of ideas on this but a lead can set me on the right track and I will appreciate it a lot!!
