How to troubleshoot ClamAV updating

I have two Endian 2.4 servers in gateway mode. One is updating the ClamAV definitions automatically but the other does not have any signatures listed. I do not think it has ever worked (these are relatively new). I click the Update Signatures Now button on the one that does not work and it chugs away for a long time and then just stops. Anyone know where to start troubleshooting this? Looking for logs to look at or perhaps some command line commands to try it manually. Thanks.
