I nave Dell PowerEdge R300
Quad Core Xeon x3323
SAS 6i/R internal Controller Raid

2.3 worked fine (well, apart from many bugs)

I did upgrade with efw-upgrade, successfully completed
but when restarted did not see 2.4 on the booting menu, only 2.3
then it crashes and keep restarting

mount: error 2 mounting ext3
ERROR opening /dev/console!!!!: 2
switchroot: mount failed: 22
[  1.789367] Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
[   1780432] Rebooting in 10 seconds

I did try fresh install but it crashes on blue screen (blue screen keeps flickering before giving language option)

It's very strange, why 2.3 worked fine on my hardware but 2.4 doesn't

got reply from bug tracker:

Hi, if you have a scsi controller, see bugs.endian.it/view.php?id=2928
seems, there is a missing
scsi module in the kernel, that comes with 2.4

they are working on fix

You could try to download the 2.4 ISO from Sourceforge and boot from the CD-ROM. Once done that wait until the installer asks you to choose your language. Instead of choosing a language you press Alt+F3 which will open a shell. Executing the following commands there might help you:

Code:
mkdir /mnt
mount -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /mnt
cp /bin/modprobe.conf.sh /mnt/etc/modprobe.conf
chroot /mnt
mkdir -p /var/lock
rm /etc/sysconfig/hwinfo
kudzu --kernel=2.6.27.19-72.e22
mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.27.19-72.e22.img 2.6.27.19-72.e22
exit

I did try fresh install
it crashes as soon as blue screen comes on, before language select appears

I did try to press  Alt+F3 and it doesn't respond at all

perhaps I need to try again pressing it earlier
I will try tonight

thanks

I have tried the 2.4 iso and it gives the same results as above (blue screen with an occaisional flicker)... absolutely kills the server.

I tried the latest 2.4 (RESPIN) and it won't boot at all.

Can't stay with 2.3 because it won't NAT.

Very disappointed... wasted several days and have nothing.

Thanks,

Carl

I have the same problem with HP PROLIANT ML110 G6 (ZEON QUAD CORE)

To test I installed IPCOP v2.0. The perfect setup, but does not have URL FILTER, no Antivirus, no Spamassassin
It is therefore important to install Endian 2.4

SOLVED.
The problem: just got off the latest version, which has
