Has anyone had any success getting this installed for Endian?  I have 2.2 R3 running in VMware Server 1.0.8 and it runs well, however I'd like to get VMware Tools installed.

Thanks

That link gives a page not found.

Ah, I see that's on their blo g page and there's a double '//' in the link above. The forum software seems not to like the word "" (see it removed it even as a normal word  Shocked) in a url and removes it. Go to this about us page: http://www.rndgroup.co.nz/about-us.html and click on the blo g link for the correct page.

I meant to add, many thanks for that link. I've just moved my EFW from xen to VMware ESXi and wanted to install the tools.

Just to finish off for anyone that's interested. Those instructions work fine for VMware ESXi tools and they get installed and working with the exception that there's a problem applying the patch. There's an error when it's applied to the current ESXi tools script, I'm not too good at scripting so I haven't been able to fix that problem - I'll keep trying.

You can download VMware appliance with VMware Tools and Midnight Commander here: http://tuxwiki.hu/doku.php?id=linux:endianeng

Thanks for those downloads, very nice especially as the vmware tools are already installed - it'll save me having to pull what's left of my hair out trying to fix the script.  Grin I'll give them a try shortly.

Just a quick question about the vmware tools, is it possible to upgrade the tools in place or what would I need to do to upgrade them?

I recently changed from VMWare server 1.0.8 to 2.0.0 and I was able to upgrade vmware-tools. It isn't simple, but doable. You'll need the efw devel RPMS, vmware-tools patched for efw and gcc in the correct version. I also changed the /etc/rc.d/init.d/rc.local to manually start the vmware-tools.
As I have little idea of linux, I do the brute force way, I tried everything until it works. Where I have most problems is installing gcc 4.1 (gcc 3.6 doesn't work) to recompile vmware-tools.
