My HTTP proxy service died and is not comming up anymore. Even after rebooting the vmachine (vmware) or resetting proxy settings... ;(

I searched the forum for something similar, but found nothing like my problem. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this issue...

Thanks in advance,Tommie

Hello,

I know it's late to reply this post, but this just happend to me and i think a should tell what was the problem.

One day i set the proxy cache disk size to 0. Nothing happened then, some days ahead when i rebooted the machine, proxy and content filter services didnt go up  Huh
I logged via ssh and tried to start the squid service by hand:

root@endian:/etc/init.d # ./squid stop
Stopping squid: ./squid: line 84:  7155 Aborted                 $SQUID -k check >>/var/log/squid/squid.out 2>&1

In the log:

FATAL: storeAufsDirParse: invalid size value
Squid Cache (Version 2.6.STABLE22): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.003 seconds = 0.001 user + 0.002 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 5504 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 0
FATAL: storeAufsDirParse: invalid size value
Squid Cache (Version 2.6.STABLE22): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.003 seconds = 0.000 user + 0.003 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 5488 KB

Then i just set cache disk size to something > 0 and the proxy came back   Cool

Try to see what happens when the proxy restart.

restartsquid.py -d
restartdansguardian.py -d
