smart host fail over

using 2.2Beta
When a link failovers over to a secondary how can I change the smart host to change to the smtp host on the fail over network.

For example main link is through provider a.b and the smart host is smpt.a.b
but the secondary link is with provider d.e with a smart host of smpt.d.e.

While the obvious solution is to use not to use a smart host, I need to in this particular case.
