Title: Static DNS / hosts
Post by: r00lz on Thursday 04 March 2010, 11:33:05 am
Hello everyone,
  how to make static DNS ?
ex. yahoo.com redirect to 192.168.1.1 (yahoo.com -> 192.168.1.1)
I remember smoothwall has this option in web configuration. How to make it in Endian ?

Go to Network > Edit hosts

IP Address = 192.168.1.1
Hostname =  yahoo
Domain name  = com

You might also add:

IP Address = 192.168.1.1
Hostname =  www
Domain name  = yahoo.com

The way the hostname/domain name portion works is rather strange.

Hm it doesn't work for me. Loading directly ex. yahoo.com
Seems "Host configuration" doesn't work
ex:
IP Address = 192.168.1.1
Hostname =  yahoo

 h t t p://yahoo   = doesn't work too  :-[

Edited:
This hosts work only in my Endian machine.
Any solutions ?

Go to:
Proxy > DNS > DNS Proxy

Make sure Transparent on GREEN is On
