green only - transparent proxy and routing to default gateway?

Hello,
I appreciate very much EFW which can also be run as a proxy-only appliance with 1 ethernet card, and does content filtering, a/v, etc, using its specified default gateway on green to bring http traffic to the router, and since now it works flawlessly.. unless i ask squid to run in transparent mode!
maybe stupidly i setup clients' def. gateway with EFW's ip address (i can't put the router as default gateway: who would tell then clients to use efw as a transparent proxy?) but all i get for any page i ask for is the welcome screen of EFW administration.
i know there is some kind of way to do routing within the same subnet or to change squid's configuration accordingly, any suggestions on this?
thank you
b.
