Attempting an install on an Atom dual core, 1 GB RM, 160 GB SATA drive.

Install quits with error "Harddisk is too small"

Used Partedmagic to format the drive to ext2, ext3, fat32 and even deleted all partitions with no format. Still no change.

The drive is seen by bios and the partitioning utility so it's running fine. Low level format shows no issues.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

same issue here !
(i even tried pre-partitioning it with parted magic 4.5, as well as completely removing every partition.)
Code:
Failed to read target_device

HARDDRIVE IS TOO SMALL

also, it doesn't work with usb keyboards (i tried 2 different brands)

right off the bat, endian2.4 is buggy.

 Huh

I'm getting the same message, trying to run up on a virtual machine (ESX 4).  Don't know if it's relevant but seeing as it looks to be a problem seeing the hard disk, I have tried the following SCSI controllers: LSI Logic Parallel and LSI Logic SAS and VMware Paravirtual.

Same here:

INTEL D945GCLF2
82801GB (ICH7)
160 GB WD SATA

Seems to be a problem with the modules for the SATA controller.
Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

Yikes! If that's the case, how could a bug of that magnitude have possibly slipped though?

Same here

Tried

- install with vmware as physical drive
= Disk to small or Error Reading Target Device

- install direkt via USB stick/rom
= lost keyboard..

Clonig to CF card didnt work as "acronis" didnt accept the cf card.
guess as it isnt set to primary/active

Thanks Gents!!

Apparently virtio isn't working either which is a huge disappointment, and with qemu on my laptop it hangs after the grub bit (install goes fine, with scsi or ide disc)
With virt I/O disc it says disc is too small, and using a scsi disk and installing is OK but virt IO network devices aren't seen :-(
This isn't looking too good an upgrade at the moment...I hope this is just me being daft with the grub hanging.

Seems my laptop is on it's last legs, so I'll have a good look at it when I'm back home.

Idea!?

Use SATA Disk on PC
Use Vmware Wks and SATA PC disk as physical to install
set management ip
After first boot stop vm
put disk into endian box
start endian box
connect with browser
import backup

What do you think?

In my case i could try to clone SATA then to CF...

Hi all,

as Christian already informed, the Endian team is already working on the issue.
Meanwhile i was using the efw-upgrade script to move from 2.3 to 2.4 which (almost) worked fine - some SMTP-Proxy settings were not taken over.

This proves the assumption that only the controller support during the setup is buggy.

Hello,

I'd just like to inform you that the bugfix is on its way... problem is that it takes a few hours to build the packages and a few more to perform some tests...
After that I'll be able to release a new ISO on Sourceforge
