Hi all

I have been running EFW for quite a few years now and this is my first post as I am stumped.

I have four offices linked together via ipsec VPN - all works fine

Since I updated to 2.4 from 2.3, my Zimbra mail server behaves erratically when sending email from within the web client, the Zimbra server returned an invalid domain name when you click send, click send again and it usually sends the email within 4 or 5 attempts.

I've checked with teh Zimbra team and they say all settings are correct on the mail server and all resolving from the command line is fine.

Anyone else have a similar setup with a similar issue?

i use both efw 2.4 & zimbra 5.0.24 and i never experienced an issue like yours. but something similar, maybe yes.
i recently upgraded efw from 2.3 via terminal. after the reboot, all of my old configurations were loaded, but messed up (duplicate entries into the firewall->inter-zone traffic table, for example). but, above all, when i added a new host in the network configuration table, my action broke the list: the domain names were in place of the host names, the host names were in place of the ip addresses, the domain names column was empty and the IP addresses vanished (see also: bugs.endian.it/view.php?id=3053)

while i was deciding if it was quicker to re-enter all the entries or to load one of my weekly config back-up, the firewall DNS cache were ruined in some way. from inside the green and the orange zones my servers were unreachable.

the restore old config and restart of the firewall fixed the problem; but , checking for all of my services, i got my zimbra smtp stopped to work (it was still unreachable). i was able to get into my account via webmail, but my attempts to send messages gave me a smtp "server not responding" error (which was a weird one, speaking of zimbra!). i did a zmcontrol stop/start and here it is: "error while starting ldap: can't assign requested address". i thought that the internal dns cache of my mail server were messed up too, now. i needed to restart it to to fix all. and all went back in order.

so, i don't know if my story can help you. but maybe it is a dns issue for you too.

besides i'm asking you: did you get similar issues with your efw 2.4?

(please, note: efw 2.2 & 2.3 works like a charm for years,here)
