Title: Problem connecting to VPN - Error 766
Post by: NickReplay on Tuesday 27 August 2013, 07:17:48 pm
hi,

I am trying to set up a simple Road-Warrior VPN with PSK, this is what I've done:

Open VPN server enabled
IPsec global settings enabled
Root/host certificates generated
VPN firewall disabled

When I try to connect via Windows 7 client I get an error:

Connecting to 192.168.0.15 using 'WAN Miniport (L2TP)'

Error 766: A certificate could not be found. Connections that use the L2TP protocol of IPSec require the installation of a machine certificate, also known as a computer certificate

So I realised I didn't have PSK selected in client advanced settings, not getting 766 anymore but now when I try to connect I get

Error 789: The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiantions with the remote computer
