Hello,

Lately my cable modem connection is a bit unstable resulting in the Cable Modem reboots/reload several times daily.

Each time EFW detects Uplink down the Uplink status changes to "dead" this status is kept regardless the Cable Modem is again operational.
The only way to come out of the "dead" status is to manually click the reconnect icon, or reboot EFW.
The logs don't really give a clue nor checking the syslog.
I understood the EFW would "ping" the connection and automatically reconnect upon a positive response to the "ping".

Help much appreciated.

Anybody! Ideas?

I can add that power off/on the Cable Modem don't help, only the manual reset action of connection...

check the screenshot for network - interface configuration

in the "Check if these hosts are reachable" option put your gateway ip of your cable modem.

endain will check this gateway ip periodically to find out whether this link is up or not.

If your ethernet is gigabit port then you try using cat 6 patch cable.  This solved dead uplink problem for me. uplink shows dead on cat 5 and up on cat 6.
