i tried to install EFW community RC 3 on a brand new system with intel core 2 duo processor ,G31 chip set ,250 GB seagate sata hdd and 3 GB ram .I  selected default installation from first menu by hitting enter.But after a series of messages system is halting by giving the  error
 
"kernel panic- not syncing kill init."

please help me to rectify the installation problem

My guess is it doesnt have a kernel driver for some device on your system. can you give us some of the text before the kernel panic?
