Title: Installing Packages on Endian?
Post by: s_aliya on Wednesday 09 September 2009, 12:07:02 am
Hello Community,

i am new here and i am little experienced beginner in linux. I hope to get some help from you.

I want to install a tarball on endian, it called imspector 0.9 -> http://www.imspector.org/wordpress/?page_id=35
But installing on endian is not possible, because it wants gcc to be installed in order to compile the stuff.

I tried to install gcc by downloading the devel source codes, but it just extracts the source code and no install?

So i guess that i am doing something wrong.

Please can anyone tell me, how can i install the tarball above?

Thank you in advance!

greets

I had some trouble figuring this out at first too. You can use Smart to install CentOS RPMs.

e.g.,
smart install http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/os/i386/CentOS/RPMS/nano-1.2.4-1.i386.rpm
smart install http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/os/i386/CentOS/RPMS/slocate-2.7-13.el4.8.i386.rpm

I posted some more details on my  at http://iandunn.name/workblog/installing-additional-software-on-endian-firewall/
