Invalid notification email address

I am having a problem with v2.4 when entering an email address for virus/spam/etc notifications under the proxy settings. The email address that I need to use has a non-standard domain name (not .com, .org, etc) and so whenever I try to enter it in and save my settings it fails due to an invalid email address. This was working fine in v2.2.

Any suggestions or workarounds for this would be greatly appreciated.
