Config is a NANO PC with 4 ethernet port, 2 USB ( one for keyboard, one for CDrom )
Booting from CDROM, kernel is loaded

Any idea how I can troubleshoot what is the problem ? ( I tried the no USB and no PCmCIA in case of .. no change )
Thx !

Never saw a blue screen on linux, I saw kernel panics but no BSOD.

Can you put a picture? I dont' remember, but with Shift+F2 (or Alt-F2, Ctrl-F2 or something like that) you can see the logs.

Hi,
it's not a blue screen like with windows
The screen turns blue as for a usual install and stops ( background is blue )
no access to console ( with shoft or F11, F2etc..)

I just checked,
With Alt-F2 you have the log, and with Alt-F3 you have a terminal.
Use Alt-F2 to check for any error.

Could be MB incompatibilities, a bad written CD, or simply the CD-Rom USB unit that is not compatible with EFW

Hi,
I changed the CD-ROM reader
I reburned in low speed the CD .. no changes
in fact, I have
Vmlinuz loading ...   ->ok
instroot.gz loading ...
as soon as it seems to be loaded, and switches to "blue screen", system hangs
Of course, alt+F2 is not working ....

I tried to do an install in a Virtual machine to identify the exact moment of the stop.
I found exactly where it stops :
The boot is done , and when the first config screen from endan is displayed ( to choose the languague), then it hangs ...

No, on virtual machines it works.
At least on Hyper-V, I've used it a lot.

Double check your ISO, check that size matches, MD5 sum, and try to open it with 7-zip or any ISO tools.

Hi MrKroket
So I made a lot of tests ( this is why it took me time to respond )...
First
ISO checked ( MD5 sum ok ) -> everything was ok

Just to be sure I tried with the stable 3.0.0 -> same result
means at the end, tried with 3.0.0 and 3.0.5 beta 1
I switched my CDROm reader ( so 2 different tested )

I tried to put the ISO on a USB switch in case of -> same result

As there was an additional wifi card in the appliance, I removed it ( and tried the different scenarios above ) -> same

As it is a brand new appliance, could it be an AHCPI issue ?
Or something I should change in the BIOS ?
thx !!!

I have exactly the same problem on a Zotac ZBox CI323 nano. The hardware look perfectly to be used as a firewall but unfortunately, I am not able to install EFW Community Edition - regardless which version I tried.  Sad

I understood it was a Hardware issue. Support of recent HW is not yet integrated... after, no idea how to get something working ?

Same error, but time ago I managed to install the 3.0.5 version using this tip
Strangely, I can not post the link, not even a thread of this forum. so look for a topic with the keyword

Hi RRT4,

thank you for your advise. Unfortunately on booting the installation media the systems hangs before shell is loaded or the system stucks completele. So it is not possible to switch to sh3 and execute any commands.
I am unsure if the problem depends on the CPU type, videochip or any other chipset. The Zotac ZBox supports 3 monitors on VGA, HDMI and Display Port. I tried VGA and  HDMI. Installation always results in a bluescreen and stucks.
BTW Untangle works fine.

Update: Just tried the brand new version 3.2.0 beta1 released today - no more bluescreen but also hangs on installation without any possibility to switch to another shell. Installation shell posts every second - mount: can't final LABEL="rec_boot"
