Is there a way to change the settings of logrotate? Logs like 'messages' and 'firewall' and 'ipsec.log' are enormous because they are not being rotated.

Automatic backups cannot be emailed because they are over 30M in size. The directory /var/log/archives contains files that are two years old.

I had to truncate several files by hand just to get backups emailed to me again. I also deleted files from the archives from 2012 and 2013 because they are too old to be useful.

Is this a permissions problem? None of this makes any sense.
