Title: USB UMTS modem not connecting
Post by: All2Art on Friday 01 October 2010, 08:20:59 pm
Hi all,

I hope you can help me with the following.

I have a very poor DSL line,
which keeps disconnecting.
I am now trying to install EFW in a computer with 2 NICS and a Huawei (E160) UMTS modem.

I setup one nic as the main connection.
and the UMTS modem will be a backuplink.

However, I see that the UMTS-dailup is not working.
On the mainpage it keeps says: 'Connecting'.

In the Uplink Manager I have setup the following:

Description: KPN
Type: Analog/UMTS modem
Serial/USB Port: USB Port 1
Modem Type: UMTS/HSDPA modem
Baudrate: 9600 (and tried 460800)
Acces Point Name: basicinternet
Username: (empty)
Password: (empty)

If anyone knows what is going wrong, please do let me know.
I can arrange access to my server, if needed.

Thanx alot!

BTW: pin on SIM has been disabled.
And connection status changes between Connecting and Failure.

Found the problem guys..

USB device, Huawi E160, came with an USB extention cable.
But the cable made the connection drop.

When I removed the cable, connection staid on status "UP".
