Hello,

i need a good Server Hardware for a new installation of endian 3.0

i was thinking for an HP Server Proliant DL320 G8 v2

with:

Intel® Xeon® E3-1231v3 (3.4GHz/4-core/8MB/80W, HT)
Chipset Intel® C222 Series Chipset
4 GB Ram (1600 DDR3)
SSD (via HP Dynamic Smart Array B120i Controller) (no Raid)
Onboard: HP Ethernet 1Gb 2-port NC332i Adapter

i plan to Build extra:

PCI-Express Slot1:    PCIe3 x16   --> and put an Network Card: HP NC365T 4-port Ethernet Server Adapter 593722-B21
and
PCI-Express Slot2:    PCIe3 x8   --> Build another HP NC365T 4-port Ethernet Server Adapter 593722-B21


There is Fully support for this Lunus Distribution:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86-64)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server (x86)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server (x86-64)

so can anyone confirm, this would be a good setting:

or any other recomendation?


it should be a very very stable System  (this is the Reason i like HP Server)

Late response, but the HP NC365T NIC is not supported by default, at least not at version 3.0.

The good news is that there is a resolution to get it working. In order to assist anyone who may run into this issue in future, the following is taken and adapted from h**p://jira.endian.com/browse/CORE-629 (you will need to register on their site in order to access):

1. Download the following (replace * with t): h**p://jira.endian.com/secure/attachment/16320/new-intel-drivers-3.0.tar.gz

2. Extract the zip file. Copy that folder to endian root folder.

3. smart install kernel-PAE-2.6.32.43-57.e51.i686.rpm
  Eg:
  root@efw-1429087346:~/new-intel-drivers-3.0 # smart install kernel-PAE-2.6.32.43 -57.e51.i686.rpm
  Loading cache...
  Updating cache... ######################################## [100%]
  Computing transaction...
  Installing packages (1):

5. Reboot the endian firewall.


The above was provided by the friendly folk on Endian's JIRA system. I take no  for this fix, but I can confirm that implementing it had no negative impact on our system at all, and resulted in the HP NC365T NIC being picked up correctly and functioning as intended.

Just curious are you running the original software that came with the server or have you installed another Operating System?

Try, install esxi 6.0  vmware for HP  and the Endian  in Virtual Machine.
