I may be missing something... does EFW do this:

Web cache to speed up download of common web sites on our network?

OS Updates cache for both win and mac?

I must say, EFW 2.3 looks great!!!

EFW contains a proxy.  you'll need to look at how squid is configured but in short ..

I download windows\linux updates regually on multiple pc's and yes it caches the updates ..
