Hi,

I can't find information about what exactly happens if you enable the 'Check if these hosts are reachable' option in the interface configuration.

The documentation of version 3.0 describes it as follows:

Quote
Tick this option to enter a list of IP or hostnames that will be ping-ed when the uplink fails, to check whether it has reconnected

In my opinion this is this partially true. The IP addresses will be ping-ed to check whether the uplink is up again, but it will also be used to check if the uplink is still working. As far I know, the configured IPs or hostnames will be continuously ping-ed in order to check if the uplink is function well.

What's not clear to me is:
- What's the interval for the performed check?
- When is the uplink considered dead? If all the configured IPs are not reachable or when one of the configured IPs is not reachable?
- After how many missed pings is the uplink considerd dead? Is this after only one missed ping of multiple? Is it possible to configure it somewhere (using a config file somewhere)?

I hope someone can give me a proper explanation about how this feature in Endian works.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Jaap
