ChromeOS (Chromebook) OpenVPN

Has anyone successfully connected Chromebook's openvpn client to an Endian firewall openvpn server? I've played with it off and on for a while and cannot get it to work. That is to say, work normally. If you put it into developer mode, and go into the shell, and manually run openvpn, you can get it to connect. So, its probably something easy.
