Title: ADSL Router Not Accessible From LAN
Post by: iii on Wednesday 29 February 2012, 08:41:25 pm
Since installing EFW I can no longer access my ADSL router's web interface.
I imagine this is a simple networking fix, but I am an utter n00b in that field.

Could some kind soul point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Tim

[EDIT]

I have tried to set up port forwarding as per the wiki docs, but I cannot get it to work AND EFW has started crashing since I fiddled with p/fwd, even after I deleted all the rules I added.

I am running EFW community, v 2.5.1; my GREEN IP is 192.168.1.4; RED is 192.168.1.5 and my ADSL router is 192.168.1.1

Surely somebody must have this working?

Your router is now basically just a modem for EFW, so you will not be able to access the web interface.

Most routers can be reconfigured to act as a modem only, this way all the authentication is done by EFW. This option is more desirable as it over comes some natting issues and gives you better control in EFW.

you can't see your modem again because it's different class ip.

you can't see your modem again because it's different class ip.

This is wrong. If you look at the IP Addresses he is using they are in the same IP Class.

GREEN: 192.168.1.4
RED: 192.168.1.5
Router: 192.168.1.1

One of the reasons he cannot see the router is because everything is in the same IP class. When he enters the router IP address into a web browser it will not route out because it will look on green (internal side). If he used a different IP range for his internal network, then he may be able to see the routers web interface.

Suggestion

Green: 172.17.1.1
RED: 192.168.1.5
Router: 192.168.1.1

Thanks for your responses - @AussieBloke: I will give your idea a whirl as soon as I am able.
