Title: DHCP Client on RED disconnect
Post by: MMarceLL on Saturday 13 October 2007, 11:30:34 pm
Hello,

I've change my ISP last month and now i have a cable-modem with dhcp and no
DSL-modem with PPPoE anymore. The cablemodem give the endian a internet IP
with DHCP. I change the RED-Interface from PPPoE to DHCP and now
the endian disconnect the Internet-connection sometimes after few hours...

After a disconnection, i have to reset the new cable-modem and i have to
restart endian. Then it works for a few hours. Here is the /var/log/messages:

Oct 11 09:13:29 dhclient DHCPACK from 172.30.21.156
Oct 11 09:13:29 dhclient bound to 91.89.24.158 -- renewal in 1705 seconds.

Oct 11 12:57:48 dhclient No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.
Oct 11 12:57:51 dhclient receive_packet failed on eth2: Network is down

Whats the DHCPACK messages, and why is the renewal-time so short?
Can i increase the renew-time ? Is there somewhere a additional option for the
dhcp on red ?

And in the network configuration settings there is a option at dhcp on red called "Using MAC - Address"
(Step 4/7). Which mac-address is do i have to use there ?

thanks for your answers ...
