Title: Blocking mime types
Post by: jez on Saturday 16 January 2010, 04:36:00 am
Hi all,

Very new to Endian so you'll have to excuse me.....

I'd like to block downloading of exe's and I can see this can be done but I also need to allow downloading of exe's from certain websites, Citrix for example.

Is this possible? I'm using Endian Firewall Community release 2.3.0

Hi,

i'm not a guru but i try to replay at you...

When you create an ACCES POLICY (where you disable MIME TYPES) you connect this at a CONTENT FILTER, in this content filter there's white and black list, so i think, if you add in white list the download xen website (ex. download.xen.com), you or your client will be able to download all from xen... (never i try before...  ;) )

I wait for replay... Regards.

When I create an access policy and I choose 'Deny access' from the drop down box, the content filter option vanishes so this can't be done. :(

Hi,

you are right...

if the rule works in sequential mode (i don't know) you can try to create two access policy: first trust to a content filter where xen website it's in white list, second policy deny mime types...

I hope works, but never try about this kind of rule...
Bye...

It doesn't look like the rules work in sequence.

If I have 2 access policies, one blocking MIME types the other content, putting the content filter at the top allows me to download the MIME types that should be blocked by the second policy!  :o
