Title: Outlook error for SMTP clients
Post by: csi on Wednesday 19 August 2009, 04:21:26 am
I have a simple mail server for about 70 domains behind the efw device. I change the mx records for the domains to point to the efw device.

Mail filters (Spam and Virus) work fine. Cleaning up the junk very nicely.

When outlook clients try to check email the client gets the  0x800CCC0D (No Authentication method is available error) Outlook 2003 does not receive this error, only outlook 2007.

Also when clients send email they get a 554.5.7.1 (No Relay Allowed). I have tried every setting in the system i could find to relate to this and none seem to resolve the issue.

The mail server is setup to relay mail for local users only, so in outlook each user is configured to the setting of "My Server Requires Authentication" "Use same settings as my incomming mail server"

Any Ideas why Outlook 2007 is displaying this message, and why we are having relay issues.

I also created a firewall rule for any > Port 110 to forward to the mail servers external IP directly. If this rule is not in the system the users cannot contact the server at all.
